Patron Borrowing Policy
The cardholder is responsible for all materials checked out on this card.
Patrons under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign for them to receive a library card.
Parents or guardians, not the library or its staff, are responsible for any restrictions of a child’s library privileges.
Private schools/group homes will be responsible for all materials checked out by or for their students.
Materials Circulation Time:
Books, Audio-Books, Magazines -- 28 days
New Books, Music CDs --14 days
DVDs & Reference/Short-Term -- 7 days
Books/Magazines - Unlimited
Audio Books, Music CDs - - Limit of 10
New Books, DVDs - - Limit of 5
Reference/Short-Term - - Limit of 2
Items may be renewed, subject to demand, at the library, by phone, or on-line.
There is a limit of two (2) renewals for all materials.
Interlibrary Loan Fee:
A $3.00 postage fee will be charged for each ILL item.
Lost Card Replacement Fee:
A $1.00 fee will be charged for the replacement of a lost library card.
Books & Magazines -- .10 cents/day
New Books, Audio-Books, CDs, DVDs, Reference/Short-Term -- .25 cents/day
Interlibrary Loan items --$1.00/day
Overdue fees accrue only on days that the library is open.
Patrons are responsible for returning materials on time.
Overdue and fine notices to patrons are a courtesy service. Items overdue one month will be declared lost and considered theft under MCA 45-6-301.
The matter will be turned over to the city/county attorney and the Unique Collections Agency.
All library materials are inspected upon return.
Those materials deemed by the library staff to be damaged will be assessed a damage/repair charge of between $2.00 -$5.00.
Those materials deemed destroyed/unusable will be assessed a “lost” material charge.
Lost Items Fees:
The fees below plus a $5.00 processing fee.
Children’s Books: Hardback -- $10.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Paperback -- $5.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Adult Hardback or Soft Cover -- $20.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Adult Mass Market Paperback -- $5.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Music CD -- $10.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Audio Book CD or DVD -- $15.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Magazines -- $3.00 or replacement cost, whichever is greater
Interlibrary Loan— Whatever the Lending Library charges plus a $5.00 processing fee.
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges:
Borrowing privileges will be suspended if the patron has fines of $5.00 or more, or has an item 30 days or more overdue, or has an overdue interlibrary loan.
